Mentee Question
I have total of 4 years experience, around last 1.5 years in Java. I haven't got a great project experience according to my total experience which makes me less confident in applying to top companies. I'm also confused whether to continue with Java backend or learn other things like front-end, data science, cloud. Can you give me some advice.

Hi Ujjwal,
Firstly, I totally understand that the lack of a complex projects impacts confidence when applying for top companies.
But, it should not matter if you are strong in problem solving and DSA.
To counter that I would suggest building your github profile, pick a complex project and code it yourself and host it on github.
That adds value to your profile. You can then go about adding new languages to your skill set via that project if you are excited about learning, though not necessary.

Hey Ujjwal,
Assess whether exploring front-end development aligns with your career goals and interests.
Keep updating your knowledge and stay open to new opportunities.
But being a master of one technology do give you an edge while going for interviews but also having diverse understanding of different technologies perhaps not in-depth will make you more versatile in ever evolving tech landscape.
And, it will be a bit easier for you to transition if you are aware of different domains.

Hello Ujjwal,
Your confidence is not low because of projects but it is low because of your expertise in DSA and Java Backend tech stack.
I think you should keep studying the Java Tech Stack since you will eventually gain confidence as well.

Hey Ujjwal. It doesn't matter much what type of project you have worked on. Project which you have worked, you should be able to tell and highlight points.
So to answer your question, you can definitely continue with Java. You need to prove your skills with DSA and system design.
